The Foresters U13 side have endured a frustrating wait for action in 2026, with all of their games in December and early January postponed due to bad weather.
So, it was with some excitement that a 15 man squad made the short trip to Tan-y-Fron to take on the Steelmen, Brymbo FC on Saturday.
The Foresters welcomed two new players into the squad in December, and it was a full strength team that would aim to take the game to their opponents from kick off.

After a 90 minute practice game the week before, Foresters hit the ground running, using their pace and technical ability to move the ball round quickly in the opening exchanges. Top scorer Alex Jones going close with a couple of early chances as the boys looked to take advantage.
It didn’t take long for the boys in green and gold to go ahead. Powerful midfielder Jack Edwards with good skill on the edge of the box before firing into the bottom corner after just 4 minutes.
Brymbo battled back well. An even contest for 20 minutes with the Foresters frustrated by some good defending, denying a few more chances. After building some pressure, on 28 minutes the Foresters had a corner, and Aled Edwards was left unmarked six yards out to slot it home.
His cousin Jack Edwards was in imperious form at the heart of midfield. Picking up the ball 30 yards out, he powered down the left hand side of the pitch before cutting in and hitting a powerful shot which gave the keeper no chance. A brilliant strike from the powerhouse midfielder.
3-0 up at halftime, and a quick reset with subs made. The coaches demanding that the boys push on from here. New signings Neeko Edwards and Alfie Ansloos were impressing on their debuts for the club, with Alfie showing plenty of running, passing and technical ability in midfield, and Neeko a constant threat up front with his blistering pace, hard work and vision.
Into the second half, and the boys really stepped up their performances. Alex Jones finally found his way onto the scoresheet with a well taken goal. He followed that a few minutes later with a stunning free kick – a superb strike over the wall and past the diving keeper, giving him no chance. Pure class.
The Foresters were playing slick attacking football, with goalkeepers Harry Wilson and Aiden Read virtual spectators for most of the game. Aled Edwards was again rewarded for his good work as he showed composure and skill to take his second goal of the game on 51 minutes.
After being frustrated by a good one on one chance, Patrick Nuthall scored the 7th goal. In one on one again, this time the tall striker slotted home into the bottom corner with a cool finish – a very popular goal scorer! Flying winger Charlie Killane was denied by a great save near the end as he produced a strong performance in the second half – a constant threat with his pace and trickery. Alex Jones then wrapped up for 8-0 with a deserved hattrick against his former club. 8-0 is the maximum score that can be recorded for the game under the league’s ‘Mercy’ rule.
Although not reflected in the final score, the match ended with two further goals, both taken superbly by new signing Neeko who made an outstanding start to life in green and gold!
It was a complete performance from front to back for the Foresters, led by captain Finn, Gethin, Rylan, Wil and Josh at the back. Harley, Jack and Alfie produced a dominant midfield performance. All players contributing equally. The skill and passing range was superb in the second half, with all players playing with confidence across the park.
Players of the Match on debut were Neeko and Alfie, who have both fitted in really well to a very talented squad.
